"Shanghai bookcase"
Link: Blog Arredo

"The Legends of Modern Furniture by Alivar"
What are some of the characteristics of great design? For me it is the ability to make a powerful statement with a minimal amount of clutter and material, relying on the basics. Alivar's philosophy states "each element intrinsically reflects the spirit of the home, making a harmonious whole. The pure lines enhance the quality of the materials used, in a minimalist yet highly expressive style". This belief has been brought to life in one of the most stunning collections of modern furniture I have seen. Their philosophy also embraces form and function, in which every detail matters, and adds value. The Alivar Museum collection which pays tribute to the modern masters like Mies Van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer offers the perfect combination to the latest Alivar styles for a timeless look spanning over 80 years. The entire line includes modern furniture for every part of your décor allowing a seem less flow from room to room.

"“Villa Dirickz”, 1933, Rhode-Saint-Genèse, Belgio."
Designed in by the famous Belgian Architect Marcel Leborgne, a pioneer of contemporary architecture and one of the founders of « Modernism » in Belgium.
During Modernism, in architecture as in decoration, we see a transformation towards a more industrialized production. This meant abandoning the sinuous lines, which machinery could not follow, in favour of the abstract straight lines. Marcel Leborgne designed this villa for Mr. Dirickz, the director of the Forges de Clabecq, an iron and steel factory, who loved art, theatre and a glittering lifestyle. Marcel Leborgne designed a veritable palace for him and the construction was probably planned to begin in 1929 and finish before 1935. The Villa Dirickz forms a virtual cube in which the architect has played with forms to produce a homogenous agglomeration of geometrical volumes. The Villa, after a period in which had fallen into a state of severe disrepair, it was bought in 2007 by Alexander Cambron. He renovated it totally in 2009 as he wanted to make this jewel of modernism once again habitable, fully fitted and decorated for a new owner. The Villas has been fully equipped with Alivar products, thanks to the care and professionalism that Alivar has always shown in the reproduction of the masterpieces of industrial design.

"Italian designer Giuseppe Bavuso has created the Wavy bookcase for Alivar."
WAVY is a bookshelf system that rigorously combines design and function. It is a minimalistic product in which the thin structure and the wavy design, both vertical and horizontal, gives the ensemble an image of great solidity and lightness. With its extremely characteristic accuracy of detail and use of materials, Wavy is made entirely of “HI – MACS Natural Acrylic Stone” by LG in S28 Alpine White colour. Composed of blocks that can be laid one upon another and combined, Wavy conceals any kind of joint, thus becoming a highly elegant furnishing element with an extremely formal linear nature.
