In addition to their now ten-year confirmed presence at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2009 furniture fair, ALIVAR will also participate in the “Design Contest 2009” Fuori Salone fringe event from 22nd to 27th April 2009, organised by the firm LG at the NHow Hotel//Studio Digital, Via Tortona 35, Milan.
ALIVAR will be the protagonists of the exhibition’s welcome area with the brand new WAVY bookcase designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, made entirely of an innovative material patented by LG: “HI-MACS® Natural Acrylic Stone™” in colour S28 Alpine White. This acrylic stone, which is environmentally friendly and of high quality, provides at the same time high resistance and durability over time.
WAVY is a system of bookcases that blend design and function. The “wavy” design structure, which can be positioned both horizontally and vertically, is composed of blocks that may be superimposed and combined to create made-to-measure solutions to meet individual living requirements.
The event, now in its 3rd edition, will provide a preview of the winning prototypes of the 2009 design competition, the theme of which, “Lamps”, gave students the opportunity to work with new “glossy” translucent HI-MACS® colours by LG. Together with these products, work from the United States and Korea will also be displayed on the themes of “Balance” and “Light” respectively.
The exhibition, designed by architect Francesco Lucchese, a specialist in “multisensory” architecture, will create an experience that is filled with charm.
ALIVAR, through this participation and thanks to major collaborations with designers and companies of international renown, confirm their strong orientation towards innovation and design that has allowed them over the years to broaden their product base and increase their visibility on a global level.
The use of original, refined material in order to propose unique, extremely stylish solutions bears witness to the company’s determination to consolidate their position in the high -end furniture market. |

Since 1984 Alivar have been creating products of extremely high quality to furnish the most beautiful and elegant houses. Known for their Museum collection, offering the largest collection of the classics of modern furniture, the company now hold a leading position in the furnishing market, thanks also to the contemporary Brilliant Furniture and Home Project lines. The latter was designed by architect Giuseppe Bavuso.
On the occasion of the 2009 edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile furniture fair in Milan, Alivar presents the Ascot sofa, Radar table, Kubit cupboard and the new Wavy bookcase, all designed for the day area by Giuseppe Bavuso. For the night area, they are displaying the Echo bed collection and the Fjord chest of drawers line, and finally enrich their collection by proposing the outdoor version of the Wing lounge chair.
WAVY Bookcase
This model includes unusual base elements of an irregular geometric shape which, when superimposed, form a bookcase with a beehive structure. It is made from HI-MACS® LG acrylic stone. It is an extremely fine, environmentally friendly material offering guaranteed durability and resistance. The new bookcase designed by Giuseppe Bavuso blends excellence of design, high quality materials and a minimalistic aesthetic taste, all characteristics of the company’s products.
ASCOT Sofa
Ascot offers itself as an inviting place of refuge for moments of total relax. Characterised by soft, elegant lines, with a solid structure and soft stuffing, the sofa welcomes the body and ensures total comfort.
Furthermore, Ascot is a modular model designed to satisfy the needs of the most exclusive houses.
KUBIT Cupboard
The intentionally essential design of this model highlights the precious materials used: the frame, with four handy central drawers, is made of wood while the top is available in Marble or Serena Stone.
RADAR Table
A collection of steel elements in the form of an ellipse constitute the Radar table range. The model, the focal point of which is in the character of the central structure, has a distinctive clean, essential style. The cast iron base guarantees the table maximum stability and the round top, available in various finishes, makes Radar suitable for various living solutions.
OFF-SHORE
Off-shore is a wall unit system designed to furnish the day area of the house with style and at the same time optimise space. Thanks to the possibility of mixing the various accessories that rest on free-standing panels as desired, Off-shore is a modular system that adapts perfectly to individual aesthetic requirements.
WING lounge chair
The Wing seating collection is enriched with a new outdoor model. The seat, with its slightly titled frame characteristic of the entire Wing range, is presented with a special white lacquer allowing it to be used outdoors.
ECHO Bed
The Echo bed has a simple, refined look. This model’s most distinctive elements are the large goose down padded bedhead and the chrome plated steel base which gives lightness to the structure.
FJORD Range
A series of wooden chests of drawers and bedside tables for furnishing the night area. The unusual tactile and visual effect is guaranteed by the coverings used: the tops and fronts of the drawers are upholstered in soft leather. The use of this material renders these models precious and at the same time adaptable to various aesthetic requirements thanks to the wide cover colour range offered by the company. |
